As I sit at my desk, looking at a photo of myself in a vibrant meadow filled with wildflowers next to my tender flower yoga business card, a surge of emotions envelops me. The energy of now mingles with the pressures of my inner and outer challenges. In this moment, I feel a strong connection to my purpose: to serve and to share the insights and tenderness that yoga has gifted me. Even with this calling, a lingering question remains: Am I doing enough? Am I on the right path? Am I doing the right things?
The woman in that photo, brimming with joy and energy, had no idea of the challenges ahead. She could not foresee the mountains I would climb or the valleys I would cross to become who I am today. This reflection brings a powerful realization: even amidst deep overwhelm, I must celebrate my progress. The life I live now was once the wildest dream of the person I was just a few years ago.
Recognizing the Journey
The path of a yogi can be a rollercoaster, filled with highs and lows, clarity, and confusion. Yoga, rooted in healing and self-discovery, encourages us to explore our inner worlds. Each practice provides a chance to create space for healing, allowing us to embrace our sensitivity without judgment.
For instance, a study by the Yoga Alliance found that 62% of practitioners report improved mental health and emotional well-being due to their yoga practice. This highlights how many people experience similar feelings of inadequacy. Understanding that these feelings are common can be liberating. When we share our vulnerabilities in a class setting, we create a strong sense of community, reminding ourselves that we are not alone on this journey.
Embracing Sensitivity
Sensitivity, often seen as a disadvantage, is a remarkable strength. It helps us connect deeply with ourselves and others. While feeling deeply it can become overwhelming—especially during tough times—acknowledging and nurturing this sensitivity leads to profound healing.
Yoga Nidra, a practice that promotes deep relaxation, showcases this beautifully. Studies have indicated that practicing Yoga Nidra can reduce anxiety levels by up to 40%. In this meditative state, the body rests, and the mind reflects on emotions, fostering clarity and release. It reminds us to honor our sensitivity as a unique part of our journey rather than something to overcome.
The Heart Call to Service
Amidst life’s chaos, I often hear my heart's gentle call to share my experiences and lessons. My yoga practices have been pivotal in shaping my self-care approach and the importance of supporting others. This calling does not require grand actions; it can be as simple as being present for ourselves and those around us, offering kindness and understanding wherever possible. First and foremost to ourselves, and I have to say that is never been my forte.
Every class I teach and every person I encounter allows me to embody this spirit of service. I remember a student once sharing how some kind words said during in class helped them through a tough day. This reminded me that even small actions can have a significant impact and that my journey—filled with tenderness and growth—is exactly what is needed in the world.
Reflecting on the Path
As I contemplate my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the tender flower of my yoga practice that continues to bloom, much like the wildflowers in that meadow from my past. Even when feelings of overwhelm try to cloud my heart, I remind myself that I am where I need to be. Each moment of doubt opens the door to growth, and every small step I take is a testament to the wild dream that has become my reality.
And maybe you can do it too. Just bring your eyes to a soft gaze, inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Few breaths like this. And when you feel ready, just say 3 times out loud or in your inner voice " I blossom through being tender to myself today".

As I embrace the lessons learned along the way, my hope is to inspire others to honor their journeys, especially their sensitivity. Remember, even in times of uncertainty, where you are now reflects the dreams you once had, and nurturing those dreams can lead to beautiful transformations.
